New Vinyl!!

So it seems my blog is turning into a ‘look what i got’ blog or shopping blog.. whatever you want to call it. I guess ive just been buying/been sent a lot of cool stuff recently and i feel the need to show everyone how awesome i am.

Anyway, today (Saturday) i got two Motion City records in the post after ordering them about a week and a half ago. ‘Commit To This Memory’ finally got released on vinyl and its probably one of my favorite records so i HAD to buy it! apparently there is only a limited run so i wasn’t missing out and snapped up a white one right away.
There was also a pink & clear version going around but i thought the white looked best since i don’t even like coloured vinyl.
Ive been wanting to buy MCS records on vinyl for a while so i decided that if i bought them all at once i would have to deal with tax costs and such and it would only cost me slightly more if i bought them in two lots so i went for ‘I Am The Movie’ too because its my second favorite MCS record - lots of great songs on there! I guess il buy the rest of the records soon.. maybe il get them as a cool christmas present, who knows?
I gave them both a quick spin earlier but when i have more free time il give them a proper play like they deserve.
Feel good to own some great records on vinyl.

Got this stuff on Friday in the mail from Walnut Tree Records as part of ‘The Secret Tree house’. Its pretty cool, singles from 6 bands, 6 postcards, 6 little badges and a little magazine with an interview from each band telling you about their single and the song meanings. I bought this mainly for The Maple State and Newlands, if i bought them separate it was pointless because for a few pounds more i got all this cool stuff for £10! Be sure to check out the ever growing Walnut Tree Records!

So today i got a bunch of stuff sent to me in the mail from Atticus in San Diego. I won some Atticus competition via twitter that was being held by a guy i sometimes talk to online. I thought i won just one shirt but i ended up totally surprised to find i was sent almost £100 worth of stuff!!
I got: 3 tshirts, a belt buckle, a bunch of stickers, “presenter by Atticus” CD & a double disk Atticus DVD!
I love free stuff, especially from a company ive supported for many years. Follow @atticusUSA on twitter for a chance to win some awesome prizes!

Got some new Macbeths & Atticus stuff today.

So i decided to buy the Jack’s Mannequin Macbeths finally, i don’t really listen to Jack’s Mannequin very much so that didn’t have an impact on choosing these, i just thought they looked cool. I like Light blue/black combos with stuff and i figured i should buy new shoes so they were the obvious choice. I was kind worried they sucked tho since most pictures i find online make them look shitty, just like this one.
The shoes have a tone of cool ‘hidden’ messages tho which Macbeth always seem to do with their their shoes but these shoes have them everywhere.

I also bought some Atticus shorts and a new poloshirt, now i feel like i should be wearing this stuff in the middle of summer, not winter.
Not really sure about the grey/black but i bought it anyway & the shorts could have been a little bit bigger i guess but they still feel pretty nice.

And uh, here is another picture just because…

So tonight i met Ray Mears!
I went to see his show in Glasgow where he talked about a bunch of stuff that he has done in his life while being interviewed by some annoying old man.He then let the audience ask him a bunch of questions for a while and after the show there was a book signing so i decided to buy one of his books which unfortunately for my wallet was £15! I think il be reading it back to front now, haha.
I was second last in the que and eventually Ray signed my book and ticket and then i asked him a bunch of questions to which he gave me a bunch of advice about things related to the outdoors. It was really nice to meet Ray in person and have a chance to have a quick chat, shake his hand & thank him for the work he does. It was a real pleasure to finally meet him after watching many of his shows on TV and learning so much about bushcraft and anything else he covers on his shows.

Home Grown - Keep Your Distance

So i wanted to post this song because its pretty much been stuck in my head for the last 24 hours.
Its from a pop punk band called Home Grown, maybe some of you might know them.. they were most known around the glory days of Drive Thru records back around the years 00’s before the label became a joke.
Unfortunately this band are no longer together but their music is still awesome and i keep listening from time to time along with every other band from back when pop punk/punk rock was good and there was such a thing as a scene, i miss those times.. bands today cant even compare & i cant relate to any of this new music, what a shame.

So today today i was woken up by my dad telling me that i got something in the mail all the way from Texas and was asking if i knew an ‘Alley Johnston’??Of course, i knew who Alley was and was stoked to open up the letter to find this awesome bracelet!!!
I remember when i first signed up for tumblr Alley was one of the first people i started to follow a little over a year ago now and she was always posing pictures of these really awesome bracelets she was making and i thought they were the coolest things i had ever seen someone make from a few bits of material. One day she made a post asking if anyone wanted her to make one and so i was thinking in my head “shit yeah!!” and so i sent her an email but i think she thought i was some stupid retarded kid and im not sure she took me seriously.
Anyway, a year later and im on the ‘Alley Johnston list of awesome people’ and so she decided to make me one! Im not sure if you can tell by my asian looking facial expression but im pretty chuffed i finally got one of Alleys awesome hand made bracelets, its probably the neatest thing someone has ever made for me.
Thank you so much Alley!!
And if you guys are wondering, “who the fuck is Alley!?” you can check out her tumblr account right here!!!!

So 8 days ago i ordered up the Boxcar Racer record on vinyl, in fact i ordered 3 copy’s and also a blink shirt.

The record costs $15 and is limited to only 2000 worldwide.
When i went to buy the record postage costs to the UK were $32.50 so i decided to contact some people i know and ask if they wanted a copy also because that way if we all pay money we could get the shipping cheap so it sounded a great idea!
I also have been meaning to buy a new Blink shirt for a while so i decided to do that also! In the end it came to a total of $88.98 for 3 12” records and a shirt (which i got a discount on)

Then yesterday i got a letter from the postal service telling me that they are holding my package hostage and i have to pay the ransom of £11.62 VAT and £8 fees (they charged me money to charge me money.. i don’t get it) which is a total of £19.62! Needless to say, i was pissed.
They told me i could not complain until i have a receipt of the costs and to get a receipt i needed to pay them money so i did what anyone would do and paid the ransom to free my beloved package.

Today after waiting around for a few good hours i got my package which happened to be a pretty big box so i was happy but it worked out that i was charged double the amount i should have for the VAT! so im still mad and will be complaining and trying to get my money back.

Anyways, ive yet to try the record so im not sure how good it sounds but the shirt is awesome. Il send one of the records to Tom from Walnut Tree Records via the royal mail because he lives in England & the other one goes to Fiona who lives not too far away, i think il give it to her at a party we are both going to soon at the end of this month (i think?)

It still sucks that i really just wanted a record that cost almost £10 and to get it i had to go though all that trouble just because i live in the UK. Thanks Hot Topic…

Check out this video of a song called ‘Atlas Shrugged’ from my buddy Greg who goes by the name of Ghost Saddles. GS is his new acoustic solo project that he is currently doing while he studies at university as The Maple State are currently taking a break from recording & touring.

Check out the original article here which the video was filmed for or check out Ghost Saddles here!

And if you don’t know about The Maple State by now then you should really be listening to them, haha.

Enjoy.
